A broken heart

unfulfilled promises
lies and empty words
a broken heart

it happens everyday
they say

but, how do you move on ?

how do you mend
a broken heart?

you can't

you live with it

scars, freckles, sorrow, bitterness, regrets

and write songs,
and pen poems,
painting, sculpting,

until you feel the rain falling on your cheeks

  1. Music and a broken heart go hand in hand don't they. The Gibb brothers coaxed a tear or two from me with this song.

  2. I guess broken heart only heal with time, time and distance help to dim the pain, and we can begin to heal again. Lovely

  3. Broken heart ... yes well 'em...who hasn't been struck down by that disease? Inevitable as breathing as the sun rising and setting as the hands of time as the tide as the wind as the rain!Coincidentally read today that it is official there is such a thing as death from a broken heart! Fond of including music on my own blog. Music reaches places that even words don't .... the broken bits!!! X

  4. Heaven you've captured the situation perfectly.

After reading your poem and then hearing Al Green crooning the words of this classic song, it's like I have that fractured heart again.

Let the rain wash it all away.

  6. Hmm. Lovely. And a broken heart hopefully helps us love better somehow the next time... Perhaps a little less selfishly. ? I guess it all depends on the circumstances surrounding the break-up.

You captured the true emotion and the song so fits this mood. The undertones of broken bring many emotions to the surface! I love this song :D Beautiful~

  9. Yeah all there is, is time I suppose. Getting away from them helps a bunch too, the farther the better sometimes.

I couldn't pick out one part... that SERIOUSLY hit home... a LOT of my poems have been written from that place. The last one was entitled "Goodbye" http://wp.me/s1xUtA-goodbye

You hit the nail on the head with this!

  13. Nice pen heaven... Great choice for a song I listen to in the dark a couple times myself. You can't heal a broken heart, it has to heal itself..

  32. It's tough and you have to ride that wave of grief but once you hit the shore it's over.

Don't mind Footsie , the last time he had a broken heart was when he discovered his girlfriend Marta Hari was a German spy. That was in WW1
