On ripe fruits

  in the blender
the pared frozen fruits
     thicken in its juice
a slush of faint morning dawn,
fusion of ice crystals & cream-

i pour the smoothie in my cup,
bits of tropical tang & sticky flesh
clings to the roof of my mouth-
its ripe roots, like wild honey
collect memories like seeded trees:
  jazzy blues, heat/ed summer nights-

in my thick sweater & beanie,
you roll in my tongue like bitter-
sweet song -

~0~0~

the basic is an experiment--

break the cumin seeds in the oily pan,
tap a few spices, pungent & yelling of sun-
   dried palms, 2x roasted --

as i count each round peach as perfect,
even with slight wrinkles & cuts -
like nature, growing ripe/old, with/out tampering--

in your hands, the sauce simmers & shudders--
i bite a chocolate piece, wishing for its
   decadent sweetness

  31. Loving the food prompt and wishing I had been over there to see it and partake...what sticks out to me are the sweater and beanie for some reason...they make all the food descriptives fall in line, if you get my drift to give this a distinct tasty whole ;)

  32. Hi Grace, I really enjoyed finding a place in the garden today. Your first piece is luscious and vibrant and the second is rich and sweet and full of motion. I like the notion of nature wavering on its own.

Thanks so much for keeping in touch. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

  34. very tasty. descriptors are lush

  35. Wow Grace, that was brave letting your kids pick your words, but it all came together so well - certainly much better than my effort.

All those taste words - I'm so glad I've just eaten or I'd be really hungry now!

Just one thing - there's a clash in "fruits thicken in its" - either the singular possessive pronoun and plural noun don't agree or it should be "fruit thickens ..." I mention it because it made me stumble in my reading right at the start.
