two moons ago

night air bristles,
the way spice darkens
           chocolates to red

sweet, with heat,
twines with peppered kick
            we melt: sea of flames

Under ripe strawberry moon
             night's perfume:
I hear black wolf's racing pulse
             rain, musk, wood
As your tongue cools my heated flesh
             tangled in your arms

  1. Such words will sure heat up the fall and make the summer even hotter.

  2. Sensuality bursts from every line; wow. I wonder if the black wolf (alpha male) is sweet on the sleek ginger bitch who runs at his side? The second poem resonates most with me, but both sizzle & please.

  3. You give us a peek into sensuous moments that ignite passion between two. I love how skilled you are at this, Grace.

  4. Really evocative verse, sparse, yet laden with scents on our taste buds.

  5. I liked the idea of something that "darkens chocolate to red" and melting in flames.

  6. I love the allusions to food and tasting in your poems, making such use of all the senses.

  7. This just drips with sensuality - the way only chocolate can melt

  8. Both are fantastic, but I especially like the opening lines of the second. I'm glad to see Scarlet make an appearance. :)

  14. This time around, I'm picturing red, lipsticked lips wrapped around a black ... um, "Bic"? You know what I'm saying. :) The chocolate, the black wolf. I think they might be describing the man.

  16. You have very vivid images, Grace. There are no cold nights with these lines. :-)

  17. The imagery is metaphorical, but the meaning is clear. Nicely done!
